good good Good Good good good

The dummy's position in relation to the steering wheel and instrument panel after the crash test indicates that the driver's survival space was maintained well (Institute test vehicle shown)Smeared greasepaint indicates where the dummy’s head hit the roof rail and head restraint during rebound in the Institute's test. Head accelerations from these hits were low
Intrusion into the driver's space was minimal in both tests, and all leg and foot injury measures were low

ЛОБОВОЙ УДАР СО СМЕЩЕНИЕМ

The Toyota Tacoma was redesigned for the 2005 model year. Two tests of the Tacoma were conducted, one by the Institute of a 2wd Access Cab and the other by Toyota of a 2wd Double Cab as part of frontal crash test verification. The overall rating of Good is based on review of both tests, which independently result in overall ratings of Good. The ratings and vehicle specifications based on Toyota's test are shown below because the 2wd Double Cab is similar to the crew cab configuration of other pickups tested more recently.

Restraints/dummy kinematics

Dummy movement was well controlled in both tests. During rebound in the Institute's test, the dummy's head hit the roof rail.

Injury measures

In each test, measures taken from the neck, chest, and both legs indicate low risk of injuries to these body regions in a crash of this severity. In the test conducted by Toyota, measures taken from the dummy's head also indicate low risk of head injuries. (In the Institute's test, a high head acceleration occurred when the dummy's head hit the steering wheel through the airbag, indicating that head injuries would be possible.) Head acceleration from the roof rail hit in the Institute's test was low.

БОКОВОЙ УДАР

Side airbags became standard in all models for the 2009 model year (they had been optional in Double Cab models in 2005-08).

Injury measures

Driver - Measures taken from the dummy indicate that a fracture of the pelvis would be possible in a crash of this severity. The risk of significant injuries to other body regions is low.
Rear passenger - Measures taken from the dummy indicate a low risk of any significant injuries in a crash of this severity.

Head protection

Driver - The dummy’s head was protected from being hit by any hard structures, including the intruding barrier, by a side curtain airbag that deployed from the roof and a side airbag that deployed from the seat.
Rear passenger - The dummy’s head was protected from being hit by any hard structures, including the intruding barrier, by a side curtain airbag that deployed from the roof.
