    The Nissan Pathfinder was redesigned for the 2005 model year.

Restraints/dummy kinematics

    Dummy movement was well controlled. After the dummy moved forward into the airbag, it rebounded into the seat without its head coming close to any stiff structure that could cause injury.

Injury measures

    Measures taken from the head, neck, and chest indicate low risk of injuries to these body regions in a crash of this severity. Forces on the left tibia and both feet indicate that injuries to one lower leg and both feet would be possible. (Note: during the test, some injury data from the right leg was not obtained, but after the Institute reviewed comparable test data from Nissan, the right leg injury rating was not changed.)

    Rear passenger - Measures taken from the dummy indicate a low risk of any significant injuries in a crash of this severity.

Head protection

    Driver - Although the intruding barrier did not hit the dummy's head in this test, the head was not protected from contacts outside the vehicle. This indicates that only slightly different crash circumstances could produce a direct hit to a person's head.
    Rear passenger - Although the intruding barrier did not hit the dummy's head in this test, the head was not protected from contacts outside the vehicle. This indicates that only slightly different crash circumstances could produce a direct hit to a person's head.

    ЛОБОВОЙ УДАР :: Жёсткие элементы в приборной панели представляли опасность для колен и бёдер водителя и пассажира. Защита груди водителя была на низком уровне.
    БОКОВОЙ УДАР :: EuroNCAP позволил фирме Nissan провести дополнительный краш-тест, так как в первоначальном тестировании – при проведении фронтального и бокового краш-тестов – не сработала шторка безопасности.     The Nissan Pathfinder was redesigned for the 1996 model year, and the Infiniti QX4 was introduced in 1997. All 1997 and later Pathfinder and QX4 models manufactured after October 1996 include structural changes to improve occupant protection in frontal crashes (note: information about when a specific vehicle was manufactured is on the certification label typically affixed to the car on or near the driver door). The QX4 was discontinued after 2003, but the Pathfinder was continued through the 2004 model year before it was redesigned again.
    The Institute has evaluated the crashworthiness of a 1997 Pathfinder with the structural changes in a 40 mph frontal offset crash test into a deformable barrier.

Restraints/dummy kinematics

    Dummy movement was reasonably well controlled. There was too much upward and rearward movement of the steering wheel. During rebound, the dummy's head hit the B-pillar.

Injury measures

    Measures taken from the neck, chest, and legs indicate low risk of injuries to these body regions in a crash of this severity. Forces on the head as it moved into the airbag indicate that injuries to the head would be possible. Head acceleration from the B-pillar hit was low.
